Here’s the thing...
This place is really nice and quaint. It’s historic and very esteemed. There’s just one problem.
If you get married here, the establishment will insist on using their officiant. I attended a wedding that was gorgeous.
But that was in spite of the creepy stiff “performance” the officiant gave. He had blocked out twice as much space for him as he had for the bride and groom. He physically cued every person down the aisle as if they were mentally incapable of understanding when to walk.
He told jokes that sought only to direct attention on himself.
And the worst part, was that instead of the wedding ending and the attendants leaving st their leisure, he directed each row to leave one after the other.
It was totally weird. It was creepy. It didn’t ruin my friends’ amazing day - but not for a lack of trying.
I would say that this is a great place to get married. But your wedding will be conducted by a guy that exudes “I’ve definitely molested a couple children under the guise of an after school theatre program.”
That being said, very nice bathrooms.
This place is beautiful inside and out. I went for their Labour Day brunch buffet, and service was excellent. They had a wide range of delicious traditional breakfast options, as well as salad mixes, smoked meats, and fresh seafood. Everything was of incredibly high quality and elevated in flavor. The desserts were also outstanding and unique. Overall, it exceeded my expectations. I'd highly recommend visiting the Old Mill Dining Room even if you're not staying here!
I went for high tea one afternoon with two of my girlfriends. We absolutely loved it. I love the Old Mill, it’s gorgeous, historical and has such nice staff. Everything is always clean and pristine and the food is always amazing. I know it’s high tea, just wish there were more food options. Overall, great prices, great experience and great tea!
View was amazing and has a great atmosphere. Came in for a tour for a potential wedding venue but due to a mix up, had to give ourselves a self tour. Venue options are great regardless of size and the decor beats any banquet hall any day. I also had the chance to take a look at the chapel and my fiance and I loved it. If it wasn't for the mix up, I probably would have gone with the venue but wouldn't want my wedding day to be messed up!
Room comfortable, classic and well appointed BUT other issues very disappointing. Arrived later Sunday evening after attending a wake. Pub closed early so no drink or food available after 10 o'clock ?. Hotel is remote from other options. Monday morning called restaurant to be told breakfast is available in the pub. No times offered so on attending the pub within 15 minutes imagine our surprise when told on our arrival that they had stopped serving. Staff very unhelpful, lacked professionalism. On arrival another guest was in a virtual argument over singing simple with the desk attendant. It was a shame that the staff and odd operation for a place that size is not customer oriented
Not a good experience.
Received standard reply from hotel which of course did not address the issues raised. The issues were about lack of available restaurant and bar services not room service which the response mentioned;.The important issue was that staff were not responsive to the guests. Why direct guests to a breakfast that ! didn't exist, our at least mention hours of operation when within 15 minutes we arrived. The points noted were missed so sending final note.
